The Impacts of Stress on Your Business

The Impacts of Stress on Your Business

The team here at Rebecca Ward Consulting often discusses the limbic system with our clients: the flight or flight response and how this relates to the messages you send to other people (body language) but also the messages you send to your body. From an A&P (anatomy and physiology) perspective when we are scared or nervous we have a rush of adrenaline and an increase of blood to our legs, this is the limbic system’s way of saying “get ready to run!” Unfortunately other hormones can also be triggered and this can cause a release of sugar then converted to fat.

The more stress we have in our lives (like public speaking situations, unexpected traffic jams and being unprepared for situation in general) and constantly precipitating this stress response and then it builds and builds. This can lead to an increase in PVD, poor sleep patterns (lack of REM sleep), poor food choices, an increase in DM and other implications for sustainable good health.

Stress can have other impacts on your business:
  • Poor performance;
  • A lack of confidence;
  • Decreased impact from key selling messages;
  • Decarese in productivity;
  • Poor employee performance;
  • Physical issues: high BP, DM, lack of REM sleep; and
  • Poor mental health and burnout.
